Fuel prices down but no respite for commuters
In the backdrop of sharp fall in crude oil in the global market, the central government reduced the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 3 per litre respectively early this month.
The assumptions that the fall in fuel prices means a reduction in the passenger fares as well are proving wrong with each passing day much to the dismay of a commoner. The question as to why the fares haven’t been reduced after the cut in fuel prices has become a “centre of debate” among commuters across the valley these days. The commuters across the valley contend that the government should revise the passenger fares after the recent drop in petrol and diesel prices.

Pranab hints at Cong, PDP coalition govt
While addressing a press conference here this afternoon, the union foreign affairs minister said: “Dealing with terrorism is part of global war on terrorism; and it can, in no way, be linked to the Indo-Pak relations with reference to the Kashmir issue.” Mukherjee, however, admit ted that “there was a pause” as far as composite dialogue between India and Pakistan was concerned.
He said that the leadership of India and Pakistan has agreed on various occasions that the territory of Pakistan should not be allowed to foment terror against India. “We reminded Pakistan’s High Commissioner about the joint statement of General Pervez Musharaf on Januray 6, 2004 — whereby Pakistan had agreed that its territory would not be allowed to sponsor terror against India — and the reiteration in this connection by the current president of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari on September 24, 2008, should be honored,” the union minister said.

And they came across astounding results—it was found that infants had “social brains’’ and focused not just on their mothers but on social life in groups as well.
“They communicate with more than one baby at once, show jealousy and generous inclusiveness,’’ The Daily Telegraph quoted Professor Bradley as saying.
