Over 100 injured, Yasin arrested
Thousands of people defied undeclared curfew restrictions at Shopian and down town here and held massive protest demonstrations against the alleged gang rape and murder of a woman and a girl at Shopian. Big protest demonstrations were held in other parts of the Valley also after Friday prayers.
Police and CRPF used massive force to disperse the demonstrations.It included firing in the air, bursting of smoke shells and resorting to cane charge. Even the houses were ransacked at several places and people dragged out of their homes and beaten. Unofficial reports also said police opened fire on protestors on the outskirts of Shopian.
