Sri Lanka win despite late drama
Sri Lanka had scripted a stirring revival of their own in the morning. After 44 overs, they were an underwhelming 169 for 6. But once Nuwan Kulasekara fell, having added 42 with Mathews, Murali whirled his bat like a dervish. Gul was top-edged for four and then straight-driven for six in an over that cost 15, and Shahid Afridi then clobbered through the off side for fours before Aamer put the sheen on a superb debut display by bowling him for 32.

Explosive beginning to assembly session
Legislators of majority of the opposition parties, transcending party lines, though inspired by different reasons, today decided to disrupt the proceedings of the House with the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) pack, led by its president Mehbooba Mufti, dominating the show that went on for at least twelve minutes. The Speaker was forced to issue orders for marshalling out the protesting legislators. However, this left the august House half empty.
It appeared like a typical clash of egos between the Speaker of the assembly, M Akbar Lone and the Mehbooba Mufti, with the latter making an effort to dislodge the speaker's mike after Lone ordered the watch and ward staff to push her, and other PDP members, out of the house.

Arab states ban young, old and sick from hajj
In a meeting that ended late Wednesday, the ministers, however, stopped short of calling for the cancellation of this year's hajj a duty for all Muslims in their lifetime which attracts about three million people every year to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.
The fear is that the close proximity of millions of people from around the world in late November, when the hajj takes place following peak flu season, will fuel the outbreak of the deadly disease.

Israeli warships make rare Suez crossing
One of the ships, the Hanit, already crossed the canal both ways in June, in what the source said was the first case of a large Israeli warship using the strategic waterway, although this was not possible to confirm officially.
After fighting several wars since Israel’s foundation in 1948, Egypt and Israel signed a peace treaty in 1979.
The other ship to cross on Tuesday, the Eilat, was named after a destroyer sunk by Egypt with the loss of 47 lives shortly after the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, the source said

Abuses against Muslims in United States
“This is a very important message to the American people, to the West and to the Muslim world in general,” said Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).“We appreciate Obama’s efforts to bring peace and justice to the Muslim world and American Muslims are not only willing but they are ready to help,” he said.
Obama needs to improve Washington’s relations with six to seven million American Muslims — relations badly damaged in the previous administration’s “war on terror” and by its invasion of two Muslim countries.

Obama marks Paris milestone: Statue in wax museum
After visiting France’s most famous monument, the statue traveled to Paris’ Musee Grevin wax museum, where it will stand alongside the likenesses of Nicolas Sarkozy, Angela Merkel and Vladimir Putin.
Sculptor Eric Saint Chaffray had never seen Obama in person. “The main difficulty is making it without meeting him, from press photos,” he said as the statue was unveiled today.
