Bandh evokes poor response in Jammu

The 48-hours long bandh call given by Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti (SAYSS) in protest against cancellation of the function organised in memory of those who were killed in the recent agitation on Amarnath land row by the administration evoked poor response with many traders and transporters ignoring the call in Jammu as well in other districts of the region.

Several commercial vehicles plied on the city roads as well as in the periphery here as usual while the business establishments remained open in the area. There was least affect on the attendance in the government as well as the private offices while all the government institutions functioned normally. The students of the government schools as well as some of the private schools within the city and its fringes attended their class as usual.

Similar was the condition in several other districts of the region. Reports received from the districts said that the Sangharsh Samiti activists indulged in forcible closure of shops and schools at several places.
