2 of a family among 3 die in mishap
Three persons including a woman died while one person received critical injuries in an accident at Sapwal National Highway in Samba.
Those died in the mishap have been identified as Amit Mahajan son of Chaman Lal and Vaishno Devi wife of Chaman Lal both the residents of house number 515, Johar Patak Hari Singh Nagar, Amritsar and Deepak son of Ashok Kumar resident of house number 533 Street number 3 of Indira Colony, Amritsar. Deepak was driver of the car.
The critically injured has been identified as Chaman Lal son of Puran Chand also a resident of house number 515, Johar Patak Hari Singh Nagar, Amritsar.
Police said that the incident took place around 7 PM when an ill fated Santro car bearing registration number PB08AS/9738 was hit by a speedy oil tanker bearing registration number JK0X/8525 when the car was on its way to Jammu. This resulted into the death of three persons and critical injuries to one person.

23 feared dead as bus falls into Chenab
Another major accident occurred on KishtwarBatote National Highway near Kulgadi Drabshalla today in which ten persons including four women were killed, twenty two others sustained injuries and thirteen were feared dead as they went missing in river Chenab. The overloaded matador carrying at-least forty five passengers skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge when the driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve at Drabshalla few kilometers short of Thathri this morning.
This is the second major accident in last four months as earlier on May 8, 2008, a bus met with an accident that too just few meters away from the present accident spot in which forty persons died on the spot.
Police reports said that an overloaded matador bearing registration number JK06760 which was on its way from Kishtwar to Thathri met with an accident and fell down in the river Chenab at Kulgadi Drabshalla.
